VTC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is committed to promoting whole person development for young people. The VTC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus were established in 2005 and 2009 respectively, serving as a unique cultural platform for VTC students, alumni and staff to unleash their musical talents.
Since 2006, world-renowned conductor Dr Henry Shek has been invited as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Orchestra. Under the baton of Dr Shek, the Orchestra has won favourable reviews for its performances. In addition to giving performances in the Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts and the , Shanghai Concert Hall, the Orchestra also joined hands with international artists such as pianist Mr Choi Sown-le and Finnish soprano Ms Jutta Holmberg to give fantastic performances to the audience.
Having earned the reputation as the “Music Ambassador of the VTC”’, the Orchestra and Chorus frequently perform in major VTC events, and hold annual concerts presenting a wide-ranging repertoire. In 2017, the Chorus won the Silver Award in Folklore category of the 2018 “‘Belt & Road”’ World Choir Festival Competition. Last year, the Orchestra and Chorus groups held a full-house VTC 40th Anniversary Concert with great applause.
